Monthly Growth Photos

I got this idea from a post on the Ohdeedoh blog to take a photo of Henry each month on a Stendig calendar. I am not using the same onesie each month like they did and I missed doing it his first month of birth in September, but I think I like where it is going. I will take all the photos after a full year and make a book. It is already fun to see his progress!

I still need to fix the year on this one. Nothing a little Photoshop can't take care of!

Oddity Central

So I came across this pretty bizarre web site tonight that I thought you would find interesting. The Art section is pretty amazing, including the spectacle chandeliers! Man, I wish I had thought of that!

Chicken a La King

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I am not an especially good homemaker. I can't cook very well and I hate to do the dishes. I am a bit of a klutz and make a big mess in the kitchen. However, now that I have a child of my own, I would really like to become a better cook and overall homemaker type of person. One of my fondest memories is always having home cooked meals growing up and the traditions that were built around those. My husband also has a mom that cooks very well and I don't want to deprive Henry of the good home cooked meals growing up like we had. So, I am starting to practice making some meals that might become staples for dinner. My first new recipe to try was Chicken a La King. I don't know why I wanted to try this particular dinner. I think it's because I always get the frozen dinner of it and wanted to see how the homemade version could be. Well, I am happy to say I pulled it off! I am pretty sure it tasted the way the recipe intended and it was pretty yummy, though very rich. I probably won't make it again because really it is a heart attack in a pot. But it was a good start!

I am a very messy cook!

While the dinner was an overall success. It was not as much fun because I didn't have anyone to share it with. My husband is vegan and this definitely was not vegan friendly. So, next time it is going to be something we both can enjoy!
